“Thank you, POTS Care, for a life-changing week, and for the kindness you have all shown in the midst of such a difficult illness”.
Kristin came to POTS Care after being ill for a year and a half. She had visited countless doctors from various modalities only to find that she couldn’t get the answers she needed. There were many times she wanted to brainstorm with her doctors but was quickly dismissed and told she was “disrespecting authority” and that she needed to “stop chasing theories and get proper treatment“.“.
Interviewer: What would you like to share about your experience at POTS Care, Kristin?
Kristin: Dr. Driscoll’s testing and treatment are all based on science and research. Along with her own testimony, she also shares much of the science and research she has discovered along the way, through neuroscience journals and medical article handouts. She is very upfront about the importance of science to back what is being done at POTS Care. Her assessment methods provide objective measurements and data, which makes POTS Care a great place to come for a “leave no stone left unturned” diagnosis.
Interviewer: Were we able to identify any underlying problems contributing to your illness that others have missed?
Kristin: Yes! Dr. Driscoll has looked at my symptoms and test results from many angles so as to rule out/confirm most possible causes of POTS. She has been able to identify a key underlying condition, along with several other smaller issues, which, when treated, will most likely resolve most or all of my issues.
Interviewer: Would you like to share anything about your struggles or journey before coming to POTS Care?
Kristin: I have been very sick for a year and a half, and have been bed-ridden for months at a time. All my body systems seemed to be shutting down. This was a huge problem with having an 8 month-old, a 3 year-old, and a 4 year-old to care for! I have seen 30 doctors over the past year and a half, and only a handful were even slightly helpful. Most labeled me a “Medical Mystery” and sent me on my way with no hope of finding an underlying cause, much less an effective treatment. When asking doctors to “brainstorm” with me about possible underlying causes, most took great offense and one neurologist even kicked me out of her office after lecturing me about “disrespecting authority” and told me I need to stop chasing around theories and start getting “proper” treatment (salt-loading, beta blockers, steroids, and vasoconstrictors ~ all of which can help at first, but science has shown to be ultimately extremely damaging to the blood vessels in the long-run). After encountering all of that, It was a breath of fresh air coming to POTS Care where the doctors have actually done the research and don’t have chip on their shoulders, but listen with empathy and support, and quickly identify root causes and put an effective treatment plan in place.
Interviewer: Do you have anything you would like to say to others that may be thinking about coming to POTS Care?
Kristin:I highly recommend coming, even if you are feeling somewhat better by the time your appointment rolls around. By the time of my appointment, I was doing MUCH better than I was at first, through some very effective treatment by my chiropractor; however, it was key for me to come and find out the actual underlying cause of my POTS, in order to actually treat the root of the problem. Even though I was probably functioning at 70% when it was finally time to come, I am SO glad I did. It made all the difference in long-term treatment and management of my health. Knowledge is, indeed, power! Thank you, POTS Care, for a life-changing week, and for the kindness you have all shown in the midst of such a difficult illness.
Interviewer: Thank you so much for sharing your story Kristin!
