Upali came to POTS Care after being ill for almost 20 years. His journey began with a diagnosis of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, then he was eventually also diagnosed with POTS. After seeking treatment from numerous specialists with no real help, he finally understands the underlying medical cause and is beginning his return to health, only a few weeks after his visit to POTS Care.
INTERVIEWER: Would you share about your background with POTS and what brought you to POTS Care?
PATIENT: Sure! I had chronic fatigue and a “POTS-like” syndrome, for about 20 years. I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome in 1999, so I started treatment for that. In 2002, I went to a clinic, where they found POTS after a tilt table test was performed. I did a lot of research to see if there were any places that could treat me, and that’s when I stumbled upon POTS Care. I read the book “The Driscoll Theory,” and everything sounded logical. The treatment approach was also very straightforward. That’s what brought me here.
INTERVIEWER: As far as your experiences with other doctors or other facilities, were we different, did we stand out with our way of testing?
PATIENT: Oh yeah, definitely! Dr. Driscoll was very thorough. Most doctors would see me for maybe half an hour at the most and would try to make all the diagnoses in that very short time. Dr. Driscoll and I had consultations for over an hour each day during my visit. The fact that she goes through all the genetic markers, connects everything together and discovers a root cause is something new. Because other places just try to treat for the symptoms. This is a lot more scientific, and I can tell that being a scientist myself. I have never seen this thorough of a scientific approach in any other place.
INTERVIEWER: As far as like prospective patients looking to come here, what would you say to them?
PATIENT: Oh yeah, just come here. This is one of the best places for POTS.
INTERVIEWER: Were we successful in at least getting to your underlying cause?
PATIENT: It looks like it, yeah. You were able to find genetic defects and you were able to see some issues with small veins. My MRI, which was done at another place, was more thoroughly analyzed here rather than any other facility!
